I never really gave it much thought to ask a potential date if they’ve seen Star Wars, but since the new movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in theaters today, I find myself needing to find out before we go any further. See I grew up with Star Wars and from the very moment that theme song started playing and those words started scrolling on the the big screen, I knew it would change my life forever. So when a date tells me he hasn’t seen the movie, my first thought is “What’s wrong with you?”

Here are my five reasons why I can’t date you if you still haven’t seen Star Wars.

You will never understand my Yoda references

You won’t understand it when I say,  “you shoot like a Storm Trooper.”

You will never join in on this epic battle of Light Sabers

You won’t understand why I try to use the force on the TV Remote

You will never understand what I mean when I ask you if you can be the Hans Solo to my Princess Leia
